4.3 Preview - Transmogrification: "Visiting a Transmogrifier will present players with a new interface that will allow them to change the appearance of an item while retaining its original stats. This means that you can raid in your paladin tier 12 Immolation set, but look like you’re wearing Lightbringer, while priests can bring Benediction back -- at least in spirit. Hunters can once again roam the jungles of Stranglethorn Vale in their tier 2 Dragonstalker set. You could even slip into the saucy tailored Black Mageweave set for that matter. You know, with the thigh highs, and the little gloves, and the cute little... ahem."

ALSO! And even better, at least in practical terms, they're introducing bag and bank search, so you'll FINALLY be able to search your own bags and banked items by item name.

This is tempting me to reactivate my account. One of the reasons I just couldn't get interested in gearing up my 85 hunter was that I didn't like the Murlocslayer look. And I often prefer realistic-looking lower level items to fancier high level stuff, especially when it comes to weapons.

*nodsnods* Me too. There are a lot of comments on the forums from folks who want to be able to disable this -- that is, to see everyone else in the original look of their gear rather than the transmogrified look -- because they don't want to see "the ridiculous costumes" people are going to come up with, and I'm just laughing my ass off, because so many of the costumes are already so blazingly ridiculous to start with. :D

Speaking of which, don't some of the wieldable fish have stats?

Apparently the Dark Herring does 109.9 DPS and increases your critical strike rating by 50. :D

*Yes!* The saddest thing about getting a more useful head-slot item was having to put away my top hat! *loves on top hat....*

I think this is a really cool feature, but for those who worked hard to get the high tier gear and look, they may be a tad frustrated!

When is 4.3 supposed to launch?

I am ridiculously excited for Transmogrification. I'm currently running Hellfire Ramparts into eternity because there is a set that drops in there that is OMG GORGEOUS. I want it for Rayner so badly I can't even describe. But each piece has a 0.13% drop rate. O.o I've picked up so much Runecloth that my tailor/enchanter has leveled out of runecloth entirely. Now I'll just be selling it, along with the dozens of greens I'm getting that aren't the ones I want!

One piece of the set has dropped: the helm, which is the one piece that I didn't want. *facepalm*
